Quick take
32-inch ice fishing rod with medium power and fast action for panfish to burly pike and walleye.
The 13 Fishing Omen Ice is a 32-inch, medium-power casting-grip ice rod with a fast-action graphite blank. It has a ported reel seat, thin wire guides and a cork handle, so it suits anglers who jig for walleye, pike or panfish through the ice with a casting reel. At about an ounce, it stays light in the hand during long sessions on the hardwater.
Best for
- Ice fishing for panfish, pike and walleye through holes
- Anglers needing quick hook sets in cold conditions
- Fighting big fish through ice in harsh environments
Skip if
- You ice fish for only small bluegill
- You need a longer rod for open water
Strengths
- Fast action enables quick hook sets through thick line
- Medium power balances sensitivity with strength for large fish
- Cork handle stays warm in cold weather
Trade-offs
- 32 inches is very short for most open-water fishing
- Carbon fiber can be brittle in extreme cold
- Fast action reduces bend for subtle bite detection
