Quick take

1.5-inch plastic minnow with opening and closing wings that creates noise and gliding action when jigged vertically.

The Acme Hyper Glide is a 1.5-inch plastic minnow in a Fire Tiger color, with wings that open and close as the bait falls. It is built for anglers who fish it vertically in open water or through the ice, and its wings are meant to draw attention as it drops. Cast it out and work it back in to give the bait a gliding action.

Best for

  • Vertical jigging under ice in winter
  • Open water vertical presentations in deep areas
  • Situations where trembling action triggers inactive fish

Skip if

  • You fish topwater; this sinks and jiggles instead
  • You need large baitfish imitations; 1.5 inches is small

Strengths

  • Opening wings create life-like gill and fin movement
  • Noise from wings hitting body body attracts distant fish
  • Compact size works in ice fishing holes and tight spaces
  • Drop System allows quick repositioning to catch up with fish

Trade-offs

  • Wing mechanism may break on aggressive strikes or snags
  • Small size limits appeal to large fish species
  • 1.5 inches requires sensitive equipment to feel strikes
