Quick take
Stainless steel leader wire with flexible nylon coating that resists corrosion and reduces visibility.
Best for
- Saltwater fishing for toothy species
- Building custom wire leaders
- Applications requiring extreme durability
Skip if
- You fish freshwater without pike or musky
- You prefer monofilament or fluorocarbon leaders
Strengths
- 1x7 construction is much stronger than older 1x3 wire
- Nylon coating reduces visibility underwater
- Corrosion-resistant construction lasts in saltwater
Trade-offs
- Wire leaders limit lure movement compared to mono
- Requires crimping sleeves and tools to connect
- Saltwater use still results in eventual corrosion of the steel core
Fishing fit
- Water
- Saltwater
