Quick take
A flexible stainless steel leader wire in 7x7 strand for pike and walleye that feels more like thread than traditional rigid wire.
This is a 5-meter spool of bare 7x7 stainless steel leader wire in a camo finish, made for toothy fish like pike and walleye. Its 49-wire construction gives it a soft, thread-like handling that suits tying knots and building rigs. This spool is the 90 lb size, a strong pick when you need a heavy wire trace.
Best for
- Musky and pike leaders to prevent bite-offs
- European-style pike and walleye fishing
- Anglers who dislike handling rigid wire
Skip if
- You fish for species without sharp teeth
- You want a leader material that disappears in water
Strengths
- 7x7 strand is more flexible and handles more like thread than rigid wire
- Camo finish blends into riverbed and deep water, reducing visibility to fish
- Stainless construction resists rust and corrosion in freshwater
Trade-offs
- Wire is still visible to fish compared to monofilament or fluorocarbon
- Knot-tying is more time-consuming than with line leaders
- At 0.03 in diameter, it is thick enough for pike but less ideal for small lures
