Quick take

A castable 6-loop crab trap that deploys automatically on contact with water, sized for Dungeness, blue, and rock crabs.

The AirFly 6-Loop Crab Trap is a castable trap for pier, jetty, surf and dock crabbing, aimed at Dungeness, blue and rock crabs. Its six loops open once they reach the water and stay upright on the bottom, so the trap can be cast from shore or a boat. Each pack includes two traps, replacement loops and a crab gauge, and the trap folds to about 4 by 2 by 1 inches for a tackle box. Made in the USA, it suits anglers who want to add crabbing to a day of fishing with a standard rod.

Best for

  • Shore, pier, and jetty crabbing from California to Florida
  • Kayak crabbing in moderate depths
  • Recreational crabbers targeting multiple species
