Quick take
Lightweight neoprene reel covers that prevent fly line tangles and protect reels from dirt and wear.
This is a three-pack of neoprene reel bands from Alpine Innovations, made to wrap a fly reel and keep loose line from tangling. The Regular size fits spools about 2.25 to 3.5 inches across, and the Large fits about 3 to 4.25 inches. Weighing around 18 grams, the set adds almost nothing to a pack, so it suits fly anglers who carry several rods and want each reel ready to fish.
Best for
- Fly fishers traveling with multiple reels
- Protecting fly lines between trips
- Organizing reel setups in a tackle bag
Skip if
- Your reels are stored on racks at home
- You need a hard protective case
Strengths
- Ultra-lightweight neoprene does not add bulk to travel gear
- Fits most full-sized fly reels with simple sizing
- Prevents line memory and tangles during storage
Trade-offs

- Band closure does not prevent complete line exposure
- Only effective for storage, not active use protection
