Quick take
Size 5/0 heavy offset circle hooks for saltwater and freshwater bottom rigs.
This short-shank offset circle hook comes in size 5/0 in a 25-count pack, with heavy circle wire and a closed eye for rigging live or cut bait. Its offset point suits anglers rigging larger baits in saltwater, freshwater or ice fishing. Anglers who plan to release fish may prefer a straight circle hook, which tends to catch in the corner of the mouth.
Best for
- Catfish and large saltwater species on live or cut bait
- Bottom rigs where self-hooking saves arm effort
- Anglers practicing catch-and-release with improved fish survival
Skip if
- You fish small panfish; 5/0 is too large
- You prefer J-hook point angle for snag-prone cover
Strengths
- Heavy gauge resists straightening on large fish
- Offset point improves hookup compared to straight circle
- High carbon steel is durable and holds edge sharpness
Trade-offs
- Heavy construction makes hook feel heavy on live bait
- Size 5/0 is deep-hooked on many fish species
- Offset circle has slower penetration than traditional J-hook

- Freshwater
- Saltwater
