Quick take

A 100% fluorocarbon tippet with balanced elasticity and knot strength for freshwater fly fishing.

This fly tippet is a 50-meter (about 55-yard) fluorocarbon spool covering 2X through 6X, so one set spans heavier and finer presentations. It comes with a tippet holder to keep the spools handy on the water. Fluorocarbon is a common pick for fly anglers who want a low-visibility connection between leader and fly.

Best for

Nymph fishing when faster sink is helpful
Wary trout in clear water
Fishing demanding fish in spring creeks

Skip if

You are saltwater fly fishing
You need the absolute softest tippet for delicate drifts

Strengths

Low visibility: refractive index near water makes it nearly invisible
Faster sink rate helps nymphs reach bottom quickly
Balanced between suppleness and abrasion resistance

Trade-offs

Slightly stiffer than nylon at the same diameter
Fluorocarbon is harder to see if your tippet breaks

Fishing fit

Water: Freshwater
Techniques: Fly fishing
