Quick take
A moist chum paste that disperses through the water column to gather and concentrate baitfish schools for cast netting.
Aquatic Nutrition's Baitmaker Chum is a moist, pre-squeezed chum built to gather baitfish at a spot before you fish. Squeeze a handful, toss it where you want the bait, and it spreads through the water to draw in species from down current. It suits anglers who want bait for a cast net or a sabiki rig without catching it from scratch. The 2 lb brown package is made for a morning of bait gathering.
Best for
- Attracting live baitfish before a fishing trip
- Anglers who use cast nets to catch live bait
- Gathering schools in deeper water with a sabiki rig
Skip if
- You buy live bait at a tackle shop
- You fish with dead or artificial bait only
Strengths
- Moist paste sticks together when squeezed for accuracy in wind
- Disperses throughout the water column attracting fish from many depths
- Faster than chasing scattered bait with cast net
Trade-offs
- 2-pound bag is messy to handle and store between uses
- Requires knowing where to scatter chum to gather fish effectively
- Success depends on the presence of baitfish in the area
