Quick take
Braided loop connectors for linking fly lines to leaders, leaders to backing, or shooting lines to shooting heads.
Aventik's 18-piece pack of 30 lb braided fly line loop connectors gives trout and bass anglers six loops in each of three colors, clear, Hi-Vis yellow and Hi-Vis orange, for joining a fly line to a leader, backing or shooting head. Each loop is about 6.14 inches (15.6 cm) long, slides onto the line end, and is secured with a shrink tube sleeve. It suits anglers who would rather have ready-made loops than tie their own.
Best for
- Fly fishers building complete fly systems
- Anglers needing secure line-to-line connections
- Trout and bass on fly tackle
Skip if
- You use a simple nail knot; loop connectors add bulk
- You fish small streams where a minimal setup is better
Strengths
- High-quality braided nylon holds securely after shrink-tube sealing
- Three colors (clear, hi-vis yellow, hi-vis orange) for different situations
- 30 lb test suits most trout and bass fly lines
Trade-offs
- Requires a heat shrink tube and careful sealing to work properly
- Loop connectors add some bulk compared to direct knots
- Best suited for anglers comfortable with splicing fly systems
