Quick take
A fiberglass casting rod built for catfish and trout on 10-20 lb line, from the Berkley Big Game series.
Best for
- Catfish on heavy bottom rigs and cut bait
- Trout on live bait or lure presentations
- Freshwater and saltwater species on moderate tackle
Skip if
- You need a lightweight rod; fiberglass is heavier than graphite
- You cast all day; the weight tires the arm over time
Strengths
- Fiberglass absorbs shock and reduces line breakage on heavy fish
- Medium power balances lure weight and line rating
- EVA handle remains comfortable when wet or slippery
Trade-offs
- Fiberglass blanks are less sensitive than graphite
- The weight makes all-day casting tiring
- Moderate power limits it to mid-size presentations
