Quick take
8-strand fused braided line with 5x abrasion resistance, smooth casting and sensitive feel for 14 lb test.
This is a 14 lb braided line from Berkley's FireLine range, spooled with 300 yards in a Smoke color. It is built from eight fused strands and suits both spinning and casting setups. A thin 0.009 inch diameter for its strength makes it a fit for anglers moving up from monofilament who want a more sensitive line.
Best for
- Situations requiring maximum abrasion resistance
- Fishing heavy cover and structure
- Anglers seeking maximum line strength per diameter
Skip if
- You prefer monofilament's stretch and forgiving feel
- You fish clear water where visible line spooks fish
Strengths
- 8-strand fusion is 5x tougher than conventional braids
- High strength per diameter allows lighter reel spools
- Smoke color is visible for detecting strikes
Trade-offs
- No stretch means more rod and reel stress on hard strikes
- Visible in clear water; less suitable for shy fish
- Requires higher strength knots than monofilament
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
