Quick take
A braided line with minimal memory and smooth handling, optimized for spinning reels.
Berkley FireLine is a thermally fused braided superline in a Smoke color, sold here as a 300-yard spool in 14 lb test. It is made with Dyneema fibers and a smooth finish aimed at long, easy casts on spinning reels. A thin 0.009 inch diameter at this strength suits anglers who want a braid that packs plenty of line onto a reel.
Best for
- Spinning reels where low-memory line matters
- Long casting distance on light setups
- Detecting subtle bites on sensitive reels
Skip if
- You prefer mono for general purpose fishing
- You fish around weeds or cover where visible line helps bite detection
Strengths
- Three times stronger than mono of the same diameter
- Smooth finish reduces friction for longer casts
- Zero memory prevents tangles from coiling
Trade-offs
- Braided line shows more than mono in clear water
- Thinner diameter makes it less suited to heavy hand-crank retrieving
- Requires specialized knots on some reel types
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
