Quick take
Five-inch soft plastic grubs soaked in Gulp scent, kept alive in a reusable pint bucket that stores multiple packs.
A 5-inch Gulp! Alive! grub in Pink Shine from Berkley, a scent-soaked soft bait made to stand in for live bait. It has a curved-tail grub profile with no hook, so you rig it on a jig head or use it as a trailer. It suits bass and panfish and comes packed in a pint tub.
Best for
- Saltwater jigging and bottom fishing for large species
- Bass and panfish in freshwater on jig heads or drop-shot rigs
- Anglers who want the scent dispersion of live bait with plastic convenience
Skip if
- You need a pre-rigged bait; tie your own knots
- You fish only topwater or surface presentations
Strengths
- Gulp scent dissolves quickly and attracts fish from distance
- Soft plastic grub works on many presentations and jig weights
- Bucket keeps bait alive and allows soaking for scent recharge
Trade-offs
- Soft plastic is fragile and tears easily on sharp teeth
- Scent fades with every cast; replacement bait needed after few fish
