Quick take

Soft plastic waxworm imitations soaked in potent attractant for panfish and crappie.

Best for

  • Panfish, crappie, and perch on ultralight tackle
  • Winter ice fishing with jigging rigs
  • Anglers who avoid handling live bait

Skip if

  • You prefer live bait; these are best as a supplement
  • You target species larger than panfish

Strengths

  • Soft plastic imitation avoids the mess of live waxworms
  • Gulp attractant scent disperses widely to draw fish
  • Can be rejuvenated by soaking in the bucket
  • Lifelike texture and coloration match actual waxworms

Trade-offs

  • Soft plastic may tear on small hooks if not careful
  • Scent dissipates with use and requires refreshing
  • 0.5 in size limits to small panfish species
