Quick take
Floating artificial salmon eggs that stay on the hook without drying out, for trout and salmon.
These Berkley Gulp! Floating Salmon Eggs are soft, scented egg imitations that come joined together, so you can rig egg sacs or egg loops. They float, which suits a hook-and-bait presentation that sits up off the bottom for trout and salmon. The fluorescent red color comes in a 0.56-ounce jar, and the eggs are small enough to use on fly gear as well.
Best for
- Trout in rivers and streams during spawning season
- Steelhead under light drift conditions
- Float rigs in deeper pools
Skip if
- You need sinking eggs for deep pools
- You fish fast current where floating eggs drag under
Strengths
- Won't dry out like real eggs, stays fishable all day
- Fluorescent red color provides visibility in stained water
- Gulp scent disperses rapidly to attract fish
Trade-offs
- Floating design limits use in strong current
- Eggs remain connected which can tangle in weeds
- Plastic feel may result in short strikes in clear water
