Quick take
Scented trout dough with garlic flavor and rainbow candy color, formulated to disperse scent while fishing.
This is a 1.75 ounce jar of floating trout dough in a Rainbow Candy color with a garlic scent. Gulp! flavor bits are worked into the dough, and because it floats it lifts the hook off the bottom into the zone where trout can see it. It suits stocked-pond and lake trout anglers who like moulding a bait onto a small treble or single hook.
Best for
- Trout in streams and small rivers under current
- Bank and wade fishing where simple rigging is preferred
- Anglers who want scent-based attraction over visual lures
Skip if
- You fish clear mountain streams; the bright color and strong scent can spook wary trout
Strengths
- Garlic scent disperses in moving water and draws fish from distance
- Dough bait is easy to rig on hooks and requires no special tackle
- Rainbow candy color provides visual attraction in off-color water
Trade-offs
- Dough bait is fragile; it falls off on long casts or hard hooksets
- Color and scent are potent and may attract unintended species like chubs
- Short shelf life once opened; the scent diminishes over days of use
