Quick take

Floating soft plastic steelhead worms with paddle tail and bubblegum color for drift or float presentations.

This 4-inch floating scented worm comes 13 to a pack in a Bubblegum color, with a paddle tail that adds swimming action. It rides up off the bottom, so it works on a split shot rig, suspended under a float, or added to a jig for steelhead. It can also tip a salmon-size plug.

Best for

Drifting under a bobber in rivers for steelhead
Float fishing for ocean-run cutthroat trout
Water column presentations in moving water

Skip if

You fish still-water lakes
You prefer standard straight-body worms

Strengths

Floating design suspends at precise depth under bobber
Paddle tail wobbles even on slow drifts
Bubblegum color is highly visible to fish

Trade-offs

Floating design makes bottom contact difficult
Paddle tail can tangle on itself in your tackle box
Scent fills water but fish may ignore artificial taste

About this type

A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.

Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
