Quick take
Soft plastic worm with wide paddle legs on a finesse profile for grass and shallow cover.
The 5 3/4 inch June Bug is the shorter size in the Speed Boss line, a slender finesse worm that Skeet Reese designed for bass. Its pit-boss-style legs are built to stir up the water, and its head suits Florida rig or weightless rigging. Use it weightless or on a Florida rig for grass and cover where a finesse profile is wanted.
Best for
- Thick grass presentations on Texas rigs
- Weightless finesse rigging in clear water
- Finicky bass in heavy cover
Skip if
- You fish open water; finesse worms shine in vegetation
Strengths
- Paddle legs produce water disturbance even on slow retrieves
- Thick body endures rubbing through grass without tearing
- Works on Texas rigs or weightless setups
Trade-offs
- Finesse profile limits casting distance compared to standard worms
- Paddle design catches weeds more easily than straight worms

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
