Quick take
Hand-wound wire leaders with swivel and snap for toothy fish or aggressive species.
These Steelon leaders are hand-wound wire in black, six inches long, with a 30 lb line test. Each pack holds three, and a swivel and cross-lok snap come on every leader. They suit freshwater anglers who want a short, tough-toothed-fish leader between line and lure.
Best for
- Pike or musky in freshwater
- Saltwater species with sharp teeth
- Fast-moving predatory fish
Skip if
- You fish trout or panfish
- You need a streamlined presentation
Strengths
- Hand-wound wire is stronger than crimped
- Swivel and snap set up quickly
- Runs true through water without tangling
Trade-offs
- Wire is visible and can spook fish
- 3-pack may not be enough for regular use
- Wire kinks if bent sharply
