Quick take
An aluminum-framed landing net with rubberized mesh and built-in foam that floats on the water.
This telescoping landing net has foam built into its aluminum hoop so it floats, and it comes with a lanyard and clip to keep it attached to you. The handle extends to about 40 inches and the hoop folds down to roughly 17 inches for stowing in a kayak, boat or tackle bag. A soft rubberized mesh resists snagging, which helps when unhooking fish you plan to release.
Best for
- Kayak and boat fishing for catch-and-release
- Anglers who fish near water where nets get dunked
- Larger fish that need secure landings
Skip if
- You fish tiny panfish in creeks
- You need a very compact net for ultralight backpacking
Strengths
- Built-in foam around the hoop keeps the net afloat if dropped
- Rubberized mesh protects fish scales and reduces tangling
- Telescopic handle extends to reach fish and folds for storage
Trade-offs
- Larger net is heavier than ultralight options
- Foam flotation adds bulk compared to standard nets
- Rubber mesh may degrade over time with UV exposure
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
