Quick take
Floating landing net with foam pads, telescoping handle, and built-in measuring tape for boat and kayak fishing.
This Black Paw landing net folds and telescopes to a maximum length of 37 inches, with a 13 by 16 inch hoop and a 12 inch deep rubber-coated mesh bag. Foam pads on the hoop let it float, and a lanyard with clips keeps it tied to you or your gear. A built-in measuring strip lets you size a fish without lifting it from the net. It suits anglers in a kayak, boat or on a stream bank who want a compact net that weighs about 12 ounces.
Best for
- Catching and releasing fish from boat or kayak
- Fish measurement without removing from water
- Saltwater use where sinking risks fish loss
Skip if
- You fish small streams with close bankside access
- You practice catch-and-release with fast releases
Strengths
- Foam pads float if dropped overboard
- Rotary head adjusts vertically and horizontally
- Rubber mesh does not snag or absorb odors
Trade-offs
- Hoop size may be small for very large fish
- Telescoping handle adds complexity compared to fixed length
- Built-in measuring tape may tangle during use
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
