Quick take
Silicone-based spray lubricant that protects reels and softens fishing line while reducing memory.
Blakemore Reel Magic is a pump-spray line and reel lubricant in a 16-ounce bottle. It is made to ease line memory on spinning and casting reels, and it suits mono, braided and fly line. Anglers who want a simple way to keep line supple and help casts run smoothly will find it a handy item for the tackle bag.
Best for
- Extending monofilament and fly line life
- Pre-season maintenance on all reel types
- Saltwater reels needing UV protection
Skip if
- You need precision oiling on specific bearings; use needle oil instead
- You want to avoid any spray application
Strengths
- Spray application reaches all surfaces easily
- UV protection helps outdoor-stored reels and line
- Reduces line memory and improves casting distance
- Odorless when dry and non-staining
Trade-offs
- Silicone spray is less precise than needle oil for tight bearings
- Non-sticky formula means more frequent reapplication needed
- No build-up benefit means gears need separate maintenance
