Quick take
Five-inch soft PVC squid skirts with 3D eyes, designed for trolling in saltwater for large pelagic fish.
BLUEWING's 5-inch trolling squid skirt comes five to a pack, so an angler can carry several of the same length. It is made for trolling behind a boat and is offered in the Trolling Squid 5-013 color. Keeping to one length and one color makes it an easy place to start for anglers learning to pick squid skirts.
Best for
- Trolling for tuna and mahi behind boats
- Offshore fishing in blue water
- High-speed trolling setups
Skip if
- You fish nearshore structure or reefs
- You prefer lures with metal components
Strengths
- Soft PVC legs flex and wave like live squid tentacles on the retrieve
- 3D eyes and bright colors attract large aggressive offshore fish
- Lightweight design works with various trolling rigs and spreads
Trade-offs
- Soft plastic deteriorates in sun and saltwater; replace seasonally
- The 5-inch size works primarily for larger fish; miss smaller species

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
