Quick take
A 37-inch diameter umbrella hat that functions hands-free in sun or rain, providing coverage from head to shoulders.
This is a wide 37-inch umbrella hat that sits on your head so both hands stay free for rods, lines and tackle. It has a silver-coated polyester top, a metal frame with seven ribs, and an elastic headband with a chin cord to hold it in place. It opens with a pull cord, retracts at the press of a button and folds down small for carrying, which suits long days on the bank or boat.
Best for
- Beach fishing in intense sun
- Fishing in light rain or variable weather
- All-day boat fishing where you need both sun and rain protection
Skip if
- You fish in small boats; the 37-inch diameter takes up too much space
- You need maximum mobility; the umbrella reduces your movement
Strengths
- 37-inch diameter covers head, neck and shoulders in sun or rain
- Silver coating reflects heat to keep you cooler than regular umbrellas
- Auto-open button and spring-lock closure make deployment easy
Trade-offs
- The umbrella can be cumbersome in wind on the water
- Spring-loaded mechanism adds complexity that may need repair
- At 255 grams, the hat is heavier than standard caps
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
