Quick take

A 15-pound mechanical suspension scale with stainless steel jaws for safe handling and weighing fish.

The Boga Grip Model 315 is a handheld stainless steel fish gripper with a built-in suspension scale that reads up to 15 pounds in quarter-pound steps. Jaws open with a trigger sleeve, so you can land, weigh and release a fish in one motion without touching it. It suits anglers who practice catch and release and want a quick weight and photo, especially on toothy fish or in cold weather.

Best for

  • Catch and release fishing where safe handling matters
  • Weighing fish without injury in the field
  • Cold weather fishing when batteries are unreliable

Skip if

  • You need to weigh fish over 15 pounds
  • You prefer digital display precision

Strengths

  • Integrated jaws hold fish safely during weighing
  • Stainless steel resists corrosion in saltwater
  • Precisely calibrated with certified weights
  • Promotes catch and release fishing practices

Trade-offs

  • 15-pound limit on maximum weight
  • Mechanical scale less precise than digital (0.25 lb increments)
  • Design is specialized and not multipurpose

  • Freshwater
  • Saltwater
