Quick take

A 30 lb suspension scale with comfortable grip for weighing and landing fish, IGFA-certified for tournament records.

The BogaGrip 130 is a handheld lip gripper with a built-in scale that weighs fish up to 30 pounds. It lets a catch-and-release angler hold a fish by the jaw and read its weight in half-pound steps without a separate net or sling. Stainless metal parts and a compact length of about 11 inches suit saltwater use, and the scale can be sent in for IGFA certification when chasing a record.

Best for

  • Catch-and-release anglers who want to know fish weight without damage
  • Tournament fishing where official weight documentation is needed
  • Anyone handling and safely landing fish of various sizes

Skip if

  • You fish for smaller panfish; a lighter scale may be easier to handle
  • You need to weigh fish larger than 30 lb

Strengths

  • Grip design lets you land and weigh fish without additional equipment
  • IGFA approval means weights are certified for record purposes
  • Durable construction handles saltwater use and rough handling

Trade-offs

  • At 30 lb capacity, it maxes out on large fish
  • Analog dial requires reading carefully; no digital display
  • Grip and scale in one tool means less precision than dedicated platforms
