Quick take

A forty-piece assortment of crappie jig heads with V-shaped barbed hooks and 3D eyes in multiple colors.

Best for

  • Crappie and panfish on soft plastic baits
  • Beginners using small jigs for the first time
  • Vertical jigging in shallow water

Skip if

  • You need jig heads heavier than 1/8 oz for deep water
  • You prefer traditional round jig heads

Strengths

  • The assorted sizes and colors let you match conditions without buying multiple packs
  • The V-shaped barb prevents fish from pulling free on the upstroke
  • The small 3D eyes attract panfish and crappie

Trade-offs

  • High carbon steel requires cleaning and drying to prevent rust
  • Small jig heads are fragile and the barb can break if bent repeatedly
  • The heavy barb makes rigging small soft plastics tricky

About this type

A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.

Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.

Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
