Quick take

A stainless steel fish gripper with a built-in spring scale that grabs fish securely and weighs them without removing from the water.

The Booms Fishing G1 is a handheld fish gripper in 304 stainless steel with a quick release mechanism for landing and letting go of a catch. A built-in analog spring scale reads up to 33 lb (15 kg), so you can weigh a fish before release. It has a non-slip handle and comes with a wrist lanyard so it stays with you on the water, in fresh or salt water.

Best for

  • Landing fish without cutting your hand
  • Getting a quick weight before release
  • Saltwater fishing where stainless steel won't rust

Skip if

  • You release most fish and don't need weight data
  • You have a dedicated scale you prefer

Strengths

  • Spring scale saves time; no separate scale needed
  • Quick release lets you land and release in seconds
  • Stainless steel handles saltwater without rusting

Trade-offs

  • Spring scale is mechanical and less accurate than digital
  • 33 lb capacity limits use on larger saltwater fish
  • Gripper can pinch small fish tightly
