Quick take

A 5mm neoprene cover that fits small round baitcasting and conventional reels to protect against scratches, dust and saltwater.

This is the small size of the Booms Fishing RC1, a round neoprene cover that slips over a baitcasting or conventional reel. The 5mm neoprene is slightly stretchy and sized around 3.1 inches wide by 2.7 inches deep, so it suits compact reels. It fits either right-hand or left-hand reels and keeps dust, moisture and scrapes off a reel in the tackle bag or on the boat deck.

Best for

  • Storing reels between trips to keep dust and salt off
  • Saltwater fishing where spray and humidity corrode reels

Skip if

  • Your reels are stored indoors on a shelf; covers add bulk
  • You fish freshwater only; protective covers are less critical

Strengths

  • Thick 5mm neoprene absorbs impacts and scratches
  • Fits any reel size with an appropriate choice of S, M, L or XL
  • UV and salt resistance extend reel life

Trade-offs

  • Adding covers takes up space in tackle storage
  • Neoprene absorbs moisture if not dried after use
  • Small size fits only compact reels
