Quick take
Neoprene reel cover that protects spinning reels from damage during transport and storage.
This is the medium Booms Fishing RC2, a black neoprene sleeve sized for 2000 to 3000 series spinning reels. It slips over the reel whether or not it is mounted on the rod, and a hook-and-loop strap lets you snug it up or loosen it. Anglers who toss reels in a rod locker or truck bed can use it to keep them from rubbing against each other.
Best for
- Protecting reels from scratches and impacts
- Travel and storage between fishing trips
- Both left and right hand reels
Skip if
- You need a cover for baitcasting reels
- You prefer hard-sided reel cases
Strengths
- Thick 3mm neoprene absorbs impacts and prevents rubbing
- Breathable side mesh keeps reels dry
- Can be mounted while reel is on or off the rod
Trade-offs
- Soft cover offers less protection than rigid cases
- Neoprene can absorb water if fully submerged
- Requires selecting correct size for your reel
