Quick take
A coiled stainless steel wire retractable tether that stretches 20 to 79 inches, preventing rods and paddles from floating away.
This coiled steel-core tether keeps a paddle, rod, net or wading staff attached to you or your kayak so it cannot drift away. It stretches from roughly 20 to 79 inches, with a swivel to keep the coil from twisting and a carabiner for clipping on. It suits kayak and paddle board anglers and fly fishers who want gear within reach.
Best for
- Kayak fishing where losing a rod over the side is a risk
- Boat fishing in windy conditions or heavy seas
- Securing nets, wading sticks and other fishing tools
Skip if
- You fish from shore where a dropped rod stays put
- You have limited boat clutter and need minimal attachments
Strengths
- 50 lb test holds a full-rigged rod securely
- Swivel ends prevent twisting and tangling
- Coiled construction retracts to compact size when not in use
Trade-offs
- Stainless wire can leave marks on reel finish
- At full extension, spring tension pulls continuously
- Partially coiled design takes slightly more space than pure retractor
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
