Quick take
A 55-yard spool of 4X fluorocarbon tippet for extending fly leaders and tying droppers.
This 55-yard spool of 4X fluorocarbon tippet gives a clear, fine connection between a leader and a fly or dropper. It suits trout and bass anglers who want one long spool to tie from for many rigs.
Best for
- Hopper-dropper-hopper rigs on small streams
- Extending leaders for precise presentations
- Freshwater and saltwater fly fishing
Skip if
- You need maximum stretch for shock absorption; monofilament gives more
- You fish near structure; tippet spooled from a weight-forward leader rolls better
Strengths
- Fluorocarbon is nearly invisible to fish in clear water
- Dense construction sinks well for nymphs
- 55 yards per spool reduces waste when tying droppers
Trade-offs
- Fluorocarbon sinks; use monofilament if you need a floating tippet
- Stiffer than monofilament at the same diameter
- Black color offers no advantage over clear in most water
