Quick take
Rubber-cored bottom bouncers that keep live bait suspended above the lake floor for walleye.
A bottom bouncer is a bent wire with a weight that holds bait just above the lake bed while trolling for walleye. This Bullet Weights set comes in a 1-1/2 ounce size, with six weights in each bag. Its standard unpainted body makes it a simple choice for keeping bait where walleye can reach it.
Best for
- Walleye fishing with live shiners or crawlers
- Trolling in moderate depths
- Float rigs that need a suspended presentation
Skip if
- You fish very shallow water where bait needs to reach bottom
- You troll in dense vegetation
Strengths
- Rubber construction reduces snags compared to hard weights
- Rectangular shape provides steady tracking without rolling
- Bouncing action attracts walleye as it moves
Trade-offs
- Rubber durability decreases over time with heavy use
- Bouncer must be retrieved to change depths
- Weight is fixed; you cannot adjust load on the fly
