Quick take
Ten 8 oz pyramid sinkers that grip sand and mud with pointed tips and flat sides, keeping your rig stationary in tidal current.
The Bullet Weights PY800 is an 8 ounce pyramid sinker sold in a box of ten, built for surf fishing and other bottom rigs. Its pointed body and flat sides dig into sand and mud, helping the rig hold its spot as the current pulls. It suits anglers who fish sandy surf or soft bottoms, and it is less aerodynamic than rounded sinkers in a strong headwind.
Best for
- Surf fishing in tide
- Bottom rigs holding position
- Multi-rig presentations
Skip if
- You fish freshwater or calm water
- You need sinkers lighter than 8 oz
Strengths
- Pyramid shape resists rolling with tide and current
- Flat sides provide stability on sand and mud bottom
- Pointed tip digs in to anchor the rig in place
Trade-offs
- 8 oz is heavy and requires strong rods and heavy line
- Pyramid shape can snag on structure more easily than round weights
- Large sinker requires correspondingly heavy tackle

- Water
- Saltwater

- Surf fishing
