Quick take
Medium-heavy fiberglass catfish rod with sensitive tip and heavy backbone for night fishing.
The Chop Stick is a 7.5-foot, two-piece medium-heavy casting rod built around catfish. A high-visibility tip makes bites easy to spot, and the 13-inch fighting handle gives you leverage on big blues and flatheads. It handles 10-50 lb line and 1-4 oz baits, so it suits bank, boat and trolling setups.
Best for
- Catfish fishing at night on banks and piers
- Detecting bites with the high-visibility florescent tip
- Blue, flathead, and channel catfish up to 50 lb
Skip if
- You fish for other species
- You need ultralight sensitivity
Strengths
- Sensitive tip detects subtle catfish bites in darkness
- Heavy backbone self-sets circle hooks on big fish
- EVA foam grip stays comfortable in wet conditions
Trade-offs
- Fiberglass is heavier than graphite for all-night fishing
- 2-piece design requires assembly at the water
- Medium-fast action limits presentation finesse
