Quick take
All-metal ice skimmer with long handle that removes forming ice from fishing holes without draining water.
The Celsius Metal Ice Skimmer is an all-metal scoop with an 18-inch handle and a 5-1/4 inch perforated cup. It lifts slush and fresh ice out of a hole while letting water drain back, so an ice angler can clear a hole that is starting to freeze over. It weighs under a pound and suits anyone keeping holes open on a day on the ice.
Best for
- Keeping holes open in freezing conditions
- Quick clearance between holes on moving ice
- Early-season ice fishing before thick ice forms
Skip if
- You fish thick ice where an auger is necessary
- Your holes freeze solid between checks
Strengths
- All-metal construction withstands harsh ice conditions
- Removes only surface ice, leaving full-depth hole intact
- Long handle keeps angler's hands dry and warm
Trade-offs
- Only useful for thin ice and skim; cannot break thick ice
- Requires frequent use on cold days to prevent hole closing
- Limited to removing ice, not creating new holes
