Quick take
An adjustable-volume electronic bite alarm audible from 50 meters and visible with LED from 100 meters.
This Cooltto bite alarm comes as a 4 pack of small black electronic sensors that clip onto fishing rods and sound a siren with an LED flash when a fish takes the bait. A volume knob lets you turn the alert down or off, and the light helps when fishing bank rods at night. It runs on button batteries, with spares in the box, which suits anglers watching several rods at once.
Best for
- Fishing multiple rods at distance from your position
- Night and low-light fishing where LEDs provide backup
- Anglers wanting control over alarm volume
Skip if
- You fish one rod and watch it closely
- You fish in windy conditions where sound is lost
Strengths
- Volume knob lets you set alarm to suit your fishing and environment
- 110-decibel output carries far across water and shoreline
- Bright LED visible in bright sunlight and complete darkness
Trade-offs
- Electronic design requires battery replacement periodically
- Very loud alarm may disturb other anglers nearby
- Sensitive to movement; false alerts in strong current or waves
