Quick take
Extra-large grub bodies with oversized tails for panfish and crappie on light line setups.
This overgrown shad-style grub body from Crappie Magnet comes eight to a pack, and each body runs about 2.5 in long. Its extra wide flat tail and straight profile make it a fit for spider rigs, vertical presentations and casts for crappie. Pair it with a 1/16 to 1/4 oz Double Cross or Eye Hole jighead, sold separately, and it comes in a pink and chartreuse color.
Best for
- Spider rigging for crappie on vertical presentations
- Casting and retrieving in shallow weeds
- Vertical jigging in deeper water
Skip if
- You fish large bass and need bigger profiles
- You prefer straight-tail grubs for finesse work
Strengths
- Extra-wide flat tail generates more action on slow retrieves
- Oversized bodies attract larger crappie and panfish
- Bright pink/chartreuse pattern is visible in stained water
Trade-offs
- Larger profile casts poorly on ultralight tackle

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
