Quick take
Ultra-light jig with bucktail and plastic body for crappie and panfish in clear water or under cold conditions.
The Cubby Mini Mite is a 1/32 oz jig in green and black, with a bucktail and plastic body on a J hook. It suits anglers who want a small bait for panfish and crappie, worked close to the bottom with short bounces and pauses. Lighter line helps it move more freely, and a grub or wax worm can be added on tougher days.
Best for
- Spring crappie spawning period when fish move shallow
- Cold-weather fishing when subtle presentations work best
- Tight cover around brush piles and submerged wood
Skip if
- You fish open water where larger profiles draw more strikes
- You use heavy line that overpowers the light jig head
Strengths
- 1/32 oz weight allows fishing in very shallow water
- Bucktail and plastic combination provides natural movement
- Versatile for jigging vertically or casting to structure
Trade-offs
- Extremely light weight makes casting difficult into wind
- Requires sensitive tackle to feel bites on the small jig
- Prone to hanging on snags in heavy wood or grass

About this type
