Quick take
Light 5.6-foot baitcasting rod for casting small lures on spinning gear in streams and small waters.
The Daiwa 21 Blazon is a 6 ft 4 in light-power baitcasting rod aimed at bass anglers. It handles lures from 1/16 to 3/8 oz on 5 to 12 lb line, with a fast action and a carbon-fiber handle. A good fit for finesse presentations like small jigs, shaky heads and light crankbaits.
Best for
- Light lure presentations for bass in creeks
- Ultralight finesse fishing with small plastics
- Precise short-range casting in tight cover
Skip if
- You fish heavy lures; power is too light
- You fish larger waters where long casts are needed
Strengths
- 3.5 oz weight reduces fatigue during all-day fishing
- Fast action provides sensitivity for small lures
- High carbon content keeps rod strong despite light weight
Trade-offs
- Light power limits bass size and lure weight capability
- Requires finesse technique; not forgiving of mistakes
- 5.6 ft length limits casting distance in wind
