Quick take

Daiwa BG spinning reel with aluminum body and ATD drag system, includes braided line and floating stickbait.

This is a size 4000 Daiwa BG spinning reel with an aluminum body, Air Rotor, ATD drag and Digigear gearing. The kit comes spooled with braided line and adds a floating stickbait minnow, so it suits an angler who wants a ready-to-fish setup for bass. The 5.7:1 gear ratio brings in about 40 inches of line per turn.

Best for

  • Saltwater and inshore spinning presentations
  • Anglers wanting a complete kit to begin fishing
  • Casting and working topwater and stickbait lures

Skip if

  • You fish primarily freshwater
  • You already have line and lures at home

Strengths

  • Lightweight aluminum body reduces fatigue over long fishing days
  • ATD drag system starts smoothly with reduced initial inertia
  • Complete kit includes everything to start fishing immediately

Trade-offs

  • Aluminum corrodes faster in heavy saltwater conditions
  • Included minnow may not match your target species preference
  • Size 4000 best suited for medium-size fish, not large saltwater species
