Quick take

A filler spool of 8-strand Izanas braided line in dark green, suited for direct-tie rigs without a leader.

The DaiwaJ Braid X8 Grand is a 30 lb braided line in dark green, a color that suits anglers who tie a hook or lure straight onto the line without a leader. It is built on eight carriers and spun from Izanas fiber, a construction aimed at abrasion resistance on the spool and in use. It comes on 150-yard and 300-yard spools, so bass and walleye anglers can match the spool to how much line they go through.

Best for

  • Flip and pitch scenarios
  • Clear water where direct tie is acceptable
  • Smaller boat applications with limited spool space

Skip if

  • You need longer line sections
  • You fish with traditional leader setups

Strengths

  • Izanas material provides abrasion resistance
  • Dark green color remains visible for the angler
  • Supple body lays smoothly on the reel

Trade-offs

  • Short length limits its use as a primary spool
  • Requires careful knot work for direct-tie applications
  • PE line can show wear at connection points

  • Freshwater
  • Saltwater
