Quick take
A 6-inch fast-sinking minnow plug in bunker color with weight transfer and realistic eyes, designed for a fast erratic retrieve to trigger strikes from saltwater species.
The Daiwa Salt Pro Minnow in bunker is a 6-inch sinking lure weighing 1 1/4 ounces, rigged with a #1 hook. Its ripping retrieve gives an erratic side-to-side swim, and the realistic scale pattern with 3-D eyes suits saltwater bass and other predators. Anglers who work sinking minnows near the bottom will find its sinking profile a fit for that approach.
Best for
- Casting to stripers and larger saltwater species feeding on bunker
- Ripping fast with erratic side-to-side action
- Trolling where weight transfer enables longer casts
Skip if
- You fish shallow flats under 3 feet; this lure sinks too fast
- You prefer natural retrieve speed; fast ripping is needed to work it
Strengths
- Weight transfer system lengthens casting distance significantly
- Fast erratic action from a ripping retrieve triggers aggressive strikes
- Heavy saltwater hooks hold large fish on the strike
Trade-offs
- Fast sinking limits presentation depth flexibility
- Ripping retrieve is tiring on the wrist compared to steady casting
- Large profile and heavy hooks can spook clear-water fish

About this type
