Quick take

An ultralight spinning reel designed for small lures and finesse techniques.

The Daiwa Strikeforce-B SF1000-B is a size 1000 ultralight spinning reel with a 4.9:1 gear ratio and a 4.4 lb max drag. It weighs just 0.42 pounds and spools mono or braid, which suits panfish, trout and other light-line work. Twist Buster line management and an ABS aluminum spool help casting stay smooth, making it a simple pick for a beginner's weekend at the lake.

  • Brook trout and small panfish streams
