Quick take
The lightest baitcasting reel on the market at 6.7 oz, with SV spool and Airbrake technology for finesse casting control.
The Daiwa Tatula SV TW103 is a compact 100-size low-profile baitcaster built around an aluminum frame and a 32mm SV spool. It weighs about 7 ounces, so it sits comfortably in the palm through a long day of casting. Its Air Brake system and Zero Adjuster spool tuning are aimed at light lures and finesse presentations where backlashes are a worry.
Best for
- Finesse fishing with light lures and thin line
- Anglers who prefer to cast most of the day without fatigue
- Long-distance accurate casting with minimal backlash
Skip if
- You fish heavy cover that needs strong drag
- You target large species requiring power
Strengths
- At 6.7 oz feather weight reduces arm fatigue through long sessions
- SV spool and Airbrake system minimize backlashes on light lures
- T-Wing level wind and fine-tune spool tension enable stress-free casting
Trade-offs
- Small 100 size limits line capacity for heavy applications
- Feather weight sacrifices some durability for ultralight performance
- Finesse-focused design is not suited to heavy-duty saltwater use
