Quick take

A foldable 10-sided bait trap with steel frame that catches fish, shrimp, crab, and crawfish in freshwater and saltwater.

This DAMIDEL bait trap is a 32-inch by 10-inch folding cage with ten holes around its sides for catching minnows, shrimp, crawfish and crab. It collapses to roughly 16 inches by 10 inches by 2 inches, so it slips into a bag or the back of a truck. A zipper opening makes emptying the catch simple, and the bait bag, rope and storage bag come with it. It suits anglers who want to gather their own live bait from streams, lakes or saltwater shores.

Best for

  • Catching multiple baitfish or live shrimp at once
  • Anglers who want a compact trap that stores small
  • Live bait collection in streams, lakes, rivers, and seas

Skip if

  • You need a single-hole traditional trap
  • You fish in areas with many sharp rocks and branches

Strengths

  • 360-degree 10-hole design catches bait from all directions
  • Steel wire frame stays rigid and resists deformation
  • Folds to 16 x 10 x 2 in for easy transport

Trade-offs

  • Special zipper design requires practice to use reliably
  • PE netting snags on rocks and tree branches easily
  • Large profile in the water may spook baitfish
