Quick take
Soft nylon netting squares that wrap around bait to keep worms, eggs, and cut bait from sliding down the hook.
This peach nylon netting comes as a pack of 50 pre-cut 3 by 3 inch squares. Its soft, flexible mesh wraps around a few eggs or a cluster of bait to hold it on the hook. The square size is a common choice for trout and steelhead, where a smaller sac gives a more subtle presentation.
Best for
- Keeping live baitfish on the hook during the cast
- Holding egg sacs for salmon and steelhead fishing
- Securing cut bait or shrimp on a hook
Skip if
- You fish artificial lures only
- You use circle hooks that hold bait differently
Strengths
- Flexible material stays in place during casting
- Soft nylon won't damage delicate baits
- Pre-cut squares are convenient and ready to use
Trade-offs
- Netting can foul on weeds or structure
- Fish may reject the netting if too much is visible
- Best for slow-paced bottom and float fishing
Fishing fit

- Freshwater
- Saltwater
- Techniques
- Live bait
