Quick take
A 48 foot length of braided crab trap line rated for 25 lb that resists marine growth and rot.
The Danielson CL48B is a 48-foot braided line sold for crab traps, and it works with several trap types. Anglers setting or retrieving a crab trap can start with a ready-cut length rather than measuring their own. Check the packaging to confirm the construction before rigging it.
Best for
- Crabbing with pots and traps in bays and estuaries
- Replacing worn trap lines
- Baiting and hauling crab pots in saltwater
Skip if
- You fish open water requiring long retrieves
- You need line for casting rather than fixed traps
Strengths
- Braided construction resists UV degradation
- Marine growth resistant coating extends life
- Non-rotting material withstands saltwater conditions
- 25 lb test handles weight of full crab traps
Trade-offs
- 48 foot length may be insufficient for deep traps
- Braided line frays if cut without sealing
- Not suitable for casting; stiff for hand-hauling
