Quick take
Pre-snelled octopus hooks on 7-inch leaders that are ready to tie to a swivel and fish.
This Danielson Maurice octopus hook comes pre-snelled on a short 7 inch leader, so there are no knots to tie before fishing. It has a spear point and a turned-up eyelet that sets the hook at a slight angle. Tie it to a swivel or line and it is ready to rig with bait for species like mackerel.
Best for
- Bottom fishing for mackerel and saltwater bottom fish
- Anglers who want to save time tying knots
- Fishing with bait from docks or boats
Skip if
- You prefer to tie your own snells
- You fish with circle hooks for catch-and-release
Strengths
- Snelled on a 7-inch leader saves knot-tying time
- Octopus hook shape works well with cut bait
- Forged steel holds point well during bottom contact
Trade-offs
- Pre-tied snells limit flexibility in leader length
- Mono leader will fray and weaken if stored wet
- Octopus hooks have wider gaps unsuitable for small bait
